Abstract

The general objective of this research is to generate a theoretical model of burnout syndrome as a sensitive and effective representation for the strategic development of university communities. Methodologically, the research was phenomenological in approach, exploring how burnout impacts the strategic development of universities, identifying factors such as work overload, lack of social support and academic pressure as the main triggers. The results reveal that burnout negatively affects educational quality, talent retention and innovation capacity, compromising the strategic objectives of institutions. A comprehensive theoretical model is proposed to address burnout from a strategic perspective, suggesting interventions such as wellness programs, psychological support and work-life balance policies. In conclusion, there is a need to foster an organizational culture that promotes work-life balance, contributing to a healthier and more productive academic and work environment.
