Benchmarking of maintenance management in refinery entities in Cuba
Abstract
Benchmarking is an essential methodology that allows companies to learn from the best practices of industry leaders to improve their performance and competitiveness. In this context, the present research carries out a benchmarking of maintenance management in a refinery in Cuba, with the purpose of identifying the relevant aspects (negative and positive) of the company in these practices. The implementation of the procedure chosen to carry out the benchmarking process allowed to identify, among the indicators used to evaluate the maintenance management in Unión Cubapetróleo, those in which the company showed a favorable performance, as well as those in which it still has limitations that represent opportunities for improvement. Likewise, through a diagnosis, the performance of the areas and functions of maintenance management in the company was evaluated in comparison with the leading organization in the sector.
