School coexistence among students at a public educational institution, Peru

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the effectiveness of training activities aimed at promoting school coexistence among students at a public school in Lima, Peru. To this end, a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was used, taking into account a control group and an experimental group, employing a 21-item questionnaire based on a pretest and a postest.  The results showed that, in the pretest, the groups had similar scores; however, in the postest, the experimental group achieved a high level of coexistence after an intervention, with an average of 37, while the control group remained unchanged. Likewise, the Mann-Whitney and Wilcoxon tests obtained a statistically significant result of (p<.001). Therefore, it was concluded that school coexistence was strengthened through emotional regulation, optimal interaction, and good conflict management.
