Abstract

The purpose of this article was to analyze waste management among elementary school students from a documentary perspective. A qualitative and documentary approach was used as the methodology, employing a literature review as a technique and using both record sheets and categorical analysis guides as instruments. To this end, 15 studies from recognized databases such as Scopus, Scielo, and Web of Science were investigated. The results indicated that ecological awareness could be promoted by pedagogical strategies focused on environmental education, recycling, and active student participation in solid waste management. These results led to the conclusion that the implementation of environmental education programs would contribute to the comprehensive training of schools, families, and communities in favor of sustainable environmental conservation.
