Abstract

New technologies have become firmly established in today's educational landscape, incorporating new paradigms into teaching processes. Latin American universities have seen multiple benefits, in line with post-development approaches and models focused on social welfare. This research aims to analyze how post-development approaches and the growing use of AI influence the role of Latin American universities in promoting a more inclusive, contextualized, and socially committed higher education. The study adopted a qualitative, analytical-interpretative methodological approach, based on a documentary review. The results demonstrate the relevance of the topic by critically articulating the adoption of AI with debates on post-development and its link to contemporary higher education. The convergence between AI and post-development allows us to rethink the university as a strategic actor that integrates technological innovation with social justice, cognitive sovereignty, and epistemological diversity, providing alternatives to hegemonic development.
