Democratic leadership in higher education institutions in Ecuador. Systematic review

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to analyze democratic leadership in higher education institutions in Ecuador through a systematic review. The methodology focused on an interpretive paradigm, with a qualitative and documentary approach, for which document review and content analysis were used as techniques. Record sheets and content analysis matrices were used as instruments. The PRISMA method was also used. As a result, it was determined that democratic leadership in higher education students was manifested through equitable management, the promotion of respectful interpersonal relationships, the delegation of functions, decision-making, and consensus. This led to the conclusion that the democratic component was evident through the inclusion of teachers and students in each academic plan to work cooperatively and with commitment to achieve educational quality.
