Dynamics of Attention Processes in Adolescents: A Systematic Review

Abstract

The overall objective of the study was to analyze the dynamics of attentional processes in adolescents through a systematic review. The method used in the study was a literature review, employing a qualitative and descriptive-analytical approach. This was complemented by a systematic analysis of scientific studies, which consisted of a review of peer-reviewed research using an organized and rigorous method based on the PRISMA guidelines. The literature review was conducted in the PubMed, ScienceDirect, SciELO, and Scopus databases, covering the years 2021 through 2026. It is concluded that understanding how attention functions in adolescence requires examining the relationship between brain development and students’ daily routines. While biological maturation helps young people gain greater control over their concentration, this ability is often affected by stress, emotional problems, and excessive cell phone use.
