Military Intelligence in Colombia Under the Bani Approach: Analysis of Incidents and Vulnerabilities
Abstract
The objective of this research was to analyze several public incidents related to military intelligence in Colombia that occurred between 2020 and 2025. Methodologically, the study adopted a qualitative and documentary approach, involving a review of normative, doctrinal, academic, and journalistic sources. The research examined episodes that compromised information security, operational management, and institutional trust within the National Army of Colombia.
The results show that these incidents reveal conditions of fragility and difficulties in strategic understanding. From this perspective, the BANI framework provides a useful analytical tool for reflecting on military intelligence in scenarios shaped by hybrid, cyber, and reputational threats.
In conclusion, strengthening military intelligence in Colombia requires greater technological and doctrinal capabilities, as the country faces not only external threats but also internal limitations related to understanding, coordination, control, and adaptation. Therefore, the BANI framework may be particularly appropriate for analyzing and addressing such contexts.
