Abstract

Cyberbullying has become one of the most frequent forms of violence among adolescents and young people, and its emotional effects concern schools, families and health services. To synthesize what recent research says about its link with mental health, a systematic review of peer-reviewed articles published between 2022 and 2026 in SciELO and Scopus was conducted according to the PRISMA stages. Data from each study were recorded on sheets, arranged in a matrix and analyzed by categories. Twelve original studies from Chile, Peru, Brazil, Spain, the United States and two broader international reviews formed the corpus. Three main thematic axes emerged: internalizing symptoms, suicidal behavior and risk behaviors, and protective factors. Cybervictimization is steadily related to depression, anxiety, loneliness and suicidal ideation; the risk clearly persists into emerging adulthood, and family communication, psychological flexibility and the school act as key protective resources that should guide prevention programs in schools and universities.
