Corporte social responsibility in a metal mechanic company in Ecuador: a case study

Abstract
The objective of the research is to analyze the level of adoption of corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices in a metalworking company in Ecuador. The methodology applied was quantitative and descriptive in scope; a questionnaire was administered to 109 stakeholders at Metalmecánica San Bartolo of the National Polytechnic School (MSB-EPN). The results showed that social responsibility was rated at 93.6%, economic factors at 11.0%, and environmental aspects at 10.1%. In the social sphere, 52.3% expressed agreement and 37.6% full adherence to the range of benefits. The economic sphere registered 51.4% agreement and 35.8% approval of community support. In the environmental sphere, 49.5% highlighted regulatory compliance and 48.6% highlighted footprint reduction. The evidence reveals that social responsibility in the metalworking industry is manifested in practices that consolidate collective validity, although there are still perceptual gaps related to fiscal transparency and environmental appropriation that call for continuous monitoring.
