Public management of flood risk: A systematic review
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze public flood risk management through a systematic review. Methodologically, it was based on a qualitative, documentary approach. The techniques employed were systematic review and content analysis, following the PRISMA statement. Data collection forms and analysis matrices were used as research tools. Among the results, several main themes emerged: environmental stewardship, risk management, governance combined with community participation, and the use of technology for emergency alerts. In conclusion, it was found that floods can be prevented through effective and timely public risk management. This led to the suggestion that further studies be conducted, focusing on various community experiences to gain a deeper understanding of how to overcome the challenges posed by natural disasters.
