Tourism sustainability indicators

Abstract

This study led to the proposal of sustainability indicators for tourism in the municipality Carirubana, Paraguana Peninsula, Falcon State, Venezuela; and the same was motivated by the fact that investors in the area have worried very little to develop tourism in an ecologically sustainable manner, prioritizing private capitalist interests and leaving in the background the social and environmental well-being of the population. The methodology used was based on the prospective strategic territorial, resulting in the selection of sustainability indicators for three key variables: Land Management, Environmental Policy and Environmental Sanitation Regulations. Finally, it was considered that these indicators are a very important tool for strategic planning and environmental management, aimed at sustainable tourism development in the municipality.
