Abstract

Occupational diseases are a growing health problem worldwide, associated with hazardous working conditions and various occupational risks. Ergonomic risks are related to the onset of musculoskeletal symptoms in different professions, which is the basis for the objective of this study: to analyze the association between ergonomic risks and musculoskeletal symptoms in dentists. A mixed, prospective, and cross-sectional study was conducted on a sample of 30 dentists from the Vitadet Clinic in the canton of Pujilí. Data were collected using the Standardized Nordic Questionnaire and the REBA method. Statistical analysis included the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test and the calculation of Cramer's V. The results showed a high prevalence of symptoms in the neck, shoulders, and elbows, as well as medium and high levels of ergonomic risk. It was concluded that there is a mostly high association between the variables studied.
